The use of diagnostic laboratory tests plays a crucial aspect in clinical practice since they assist clinicians in establishing evidence-based practices.
BIG has a medical diagnostic laboratory that offers a full range of laboratory services, following strict norms and international guidelines for procedures. We have a strong commitment to providing confident diagnosis that is fit for purpose and provide accurate results which are of paramount importance in contributing to the protection of consumer health and help to limit healthcare spending. At BIG, lab services are emphasised on to provide quality, accurate, reliable, consistent and timely report.
24/7 labs services open as a part of patients centric focus. The lab has two spacious divisions- one to computational work and the other to wet lab work managed by an experienced team of pathologists and laboratory scientists supported by updated equipment, well-stocked reagents.
The division of diagnostics at BIG offers a comprehensive range of laboratory tests for the diagnosis, management and prevention of a wide variety of diseases.
Haematology, Coagulation and Flow Cytometry
The division of Haematology, Coagulation and Flow Cytometry performs a wide variety of specialised tests from simple to complex and interesting cases.
The division of microbiology provides state of the art infection disease diagnosis, consultation and patient management caused by bacteria, fungi and parasites. The laboratory is well equipped to provide microbiology services from routine cultures and susceptibility testing to molecular diagnostic testing for the sections like Bacteriology, Mycobacteriology, Virology, Mycology, Parasitology, Immunology and Serology and is actively involved in prevention and infection control measures of the hospital.
The division of Biochemistry is well-equipped to perform routine biochemical tests including a wide variety of specialised investigations. To highlight a few special tests, we perform TDM (Therapeutic Drug Monitoring), tumour markers, electrophoresis, Immunoglobins, special proteins, Iron deficiency panel, thyroid and fertility hormones, trimester screening for chromosomal anomalies and metabolic profiles.
Histopathology and Cytopathology
The centre offers routine histopathology and cytopathology services, including Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) and screening tests for cancer. Immunohistochemistry for all routine diagnostic and predictive markers is currently available. Additionally, the centre offers specialised tests at the cutting-edge of technology and expertise, such as molecular genetic markers of diagnostic and therapeutic value.
The centre focuses on advanced molecular tools for incisive diagnosis and successful management of clinically challenging infectious diseases, genetic and familial disorders, cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Over 150 molecular assays are being offered in three different subspecialties of Molecular Pathology.
